Jul 22, 202591 Shares22.7K Views Sean Michael Smith, known as Oreo Jones, is a rapper, songwriter, emcee, and radio station manager from Indiana. He has released multiple albums and EPs: Betty(2012), Cash for Gold(2016), Through The Depths of Hell I Picked Up The Phone(2019 under Michael Raintree), and Unconcerned(2020). His collaborative group 81355 (pronounced “Bless”), formed in 2021 with Sirius Blvck and Sedcairn Archives, put out the acclaimed album This Time I’ll Be of Use.
Aside from making music, he helped start Chreece in 2015, the first all-day hip-hop festival in Indianapolis, that brings together artists and fans across venues. He also works as station manager at WQRT under the Big Car Collaborative. Oreo has been involved in experimental projects too, like his Afrofuturistic punk band White Moms and various art residencies.
Through his solo work, group efforts, community events, and radio leadership, Oreo Jones has become a key figure in Indianapolis’s independent music scene.
