Aaron Jennings Puckett was born on May 31, 1994 in Frankfort, Indiana and grew up in Goshen, Indiana. He lived in a Christian household where secular music was not allowed, but he discovered pop‑punk and emo bands through websites like MySpace and PureVolume without his parents knowing. First he discovered groups like Never Shout Never, Owl City and The Ready Set, before becoming a fan of bands like Hit the Lights and Boys Like Girls. He later said “I’ve been emo my whole fucking life” to describe his musical influence.
In middle school and high school, he was the vocalist of a pop‑punk band influenced by Hit the Lights and Metro Station, and used overt auto‑tune. As he grew older, Puckett became increasingly interested in the independent hip hop scene forming on the internet. He dropped out of high school and moved to Los Angeles to pursue music.
Aaron Jennings Puckett began his professional journey writing songs for artists like Travis Mills, DRAM, Icona Pop, and Kiiara before turning to performing in 2016 with his own track “Damn,” produced by Y2K. He was featured on Travis Mills’s “Trouble” in April 2016 and released his own song “Prolly” featuring iLoveMakonnen in June, followed by a guest spot on Joy.’s “Birthday” in September.
