Career

Vivienne Medrano began posting animated work under the name VivziePop around 2012, while still a student. She also made a webcomic called ZooPhobia, which ran from 2012 until 2016, when she paused it to devote time to her animation projects. In 2013, she directed a short animation called The Son of 666. In 2014, she released a thesis film Timber, which won a Dusty Award for character animation. After graduating, she worked freelance and also contributed to other projects like the DreamWorksTV series Too Loud (2017-2019) as animator and character designer.
She founded her own studio called SpindleHorse (or SpindleHorse Toons). Under that studio, she released the pilot for Hazbin Hotel in 2019 and also created Helluva Boss, which is a spin-off in the same “Hellaverse.” The Hazbin Hotel pilot got many views on YouTube, which helped it attract attention from bigger studios.
