Vivienne Medrano began posting animated work under the name VivziePop around 2012, while still a student. She also made a webcomic called ZooPhobia, which ran from 2012 until 2016, when she paused it to devote time to her animation projects. In 2013, she directed a short animation called The Son of 666. In 2014, she released a thesis film Timber, which won a Dusty Award for character animation. After graduating, she worked freelance and also contributed to other projects like the DreamWorksTV series Too Loud (2017-2019) as animator and character designer.
She founded her own studio called SpindleHorse (or SpindleHorse Toons). Under that studio, she released the pilot for Hazbin Hotel in 2019 and also created Helluva Boss, which is a spin-off in the same “Hellaverse.” The Hazbin Hotel pilot got many views on YouTube, which helped it attract attention from bigger studios. In 2020, Hazbin Hotel was picked up by A24 for full series production.
By 2025, several key developments had taken place:
- Hazbin Hotel Season 1 premiered on Prime Video in January 2024, with Medrano serving as executive producer and director.
- SpindleHorse (her studio) announced a livestream panel event in August 2025, where new announcements were to be made.
- The first two seasons of Helluva Boss were being prepared to launch on Prime Video in Fall 2025, while additional seasons were already in planning.
- At San Diego Comic-Con 2025 it was confirmed that an update about Hazbin Hotel Season 2 would come soon, and fans expected news like trailers or release dates.
- At New York Comic Con (October 2025), Medrano and cast members were scheduled to discuss Hazbin Hotel Season 2.
As of 2025, Vivienne Medrano’s net worth is estimated to be around $6.8 million. She has earned this amount mainly through her successful animated series Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, both of which gained millions of views online and later expanded into streaming deals and merchandise sales. Her studio, SpindleHorse Toons, also contributes to her income through animation projects, brand collaborations, and licensing agreements related to her popular characters and shows.
