To keep playing, he transferred to St. Paul’s School in New Hampshire, graduating there, and later went on to attend Princeton University, where he played hockey while studying.

Playing Career

Jeff Halpern started his NHL journey in the 1999–2000 season with the Washington Capitals, becoming the first player from the Washington, D.C. area to play for the team. He quickly established himself as a dependable two-way center and played with the Capitals until 2006. After leaving Washington, he joined the Dallas Stars and later moved to the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he also wore the captain’s “C” for part of his time.
Over the next several years, Halpern continued his career with multiple NHL teams, including the Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens, and Phoenix Coyotes.
