Hanna Battah is an American journalist and news anchor who grew up in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. She often talks about the long and very cold winters she experienced while living there. After finishing high school, she went on to study at the University of Missouri, where she earned two degrees, one in broadcast journalism and the other in political science. Her education gave her both newsroom training and a strong background in government and public affairs.
She started her career in journalism while still at the University of Missouri. Hanna worked in radio, where she covered state politics out of Jefferson City. Her reports were broadcast across Missouri, including in St. Louis, Kansas City, and Springfield. She later joined NBC-affiliate KOMU in Columbia, Missouri, as a reporter and anchor. At KOMU, she covered several major stories such as President Barack Obama’s visit to Kansas City, the 2015 World Series, and the devastating Joplin tornado. Her reporting on the tornado earned her the Heart of America Gold Award from the Kansas City Press Club.
After building her career in Missouri, Hanna moved to California to work at KBAK/KBFX in Bakersfield. There, she worked as an afternoon anchor and evening reporter. She did many different tasks herself, such as producing shows, editing video, and reporting live. In 2017, she reported on the largest wildfire in California’s history, even traveling into burned areas alongside firefighters to bring first-hand stories to viewers. This experience helped strengthen her reputation as a dedicated and brave reporter.
In June 2018, Hanna Battah joined FOX 4 (KDFW-TV) in Dallas-Fort Worth as the weekend morning anchor for the show Good Day. After just three months, she was moved to the weekday morning team because of her strong work and popularity with viewers. She currently co-anchors Good Dayfrom 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. with Shannon Murray and also contributes in-depth reports for the show from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Her energy, reporting skills, and ability to connect with audiences have made her one of the familiar faces of morning television in Texas.
