Florida Georgia Line is a country music duo formed in 2010 by Tyler Hubbard from Georgia and Brian Kelley from Florida. They started playing cover songs in Nashville, and their 2012 hit “Cruise”became the first country single to go Diamond—selling over 10 million copies—and it held the top spot on the charts for a record 24 weeks. Their upbeat, party-ready style helped reshape modern country music and earned them massive popularity.

Early Life

Tyler Hubbard was born in Monroe, Georgia, in 1987. As a child, he loved playing sports and singing in church. He also began learning music by playing guitar, making hip-hop beats with friends, and leading worship during his high school years. After graduating from Loganville Christian Academy in 2005, he went on to study at Belmont University in Nashville.
Brian Kelley was born in 1985 in Ormond Beach, Florida. He grew up playing sports, especially baseball, and spent time by the beach. Music became part of his life early on as he led worship at his church and learned to play guitar. After finishing high school, he played college baseball at Daytona State and Florida State, but gradually music took over. He later transferred to Belmont University to focus on songwriting and performance.

Career

Florida Georgia Line began as a cover band in Nashville in 2010 and quickly gained fame with their debut single “Cruise” in 2012, which became the first country song ever to earn Diamond certification and dominated the charts for 24 weeks. That same year, they signed with Republic Nashville and Big Machine Records and released their first full album, Here's to the Good Times, which became one of the best-selling albums of 2013. Over the years, they released four more studio albums Anything Goes(2014), Dig Your Roots(2016), Can’t Say I Ain’t Country(2019), and Life Rolls On(2021) and became known for their upbeat, party-style country music (sometimes called "bro-country") that mixes rock and hip-hop elements.
Their 2017 song “Meant to Be,” a collaboration with Bebe Rexha, spent a record-breaking 50 weeks at number one on the Country Songs chart and became one of their most streamed hits. They have broken many records along the way, including the most weeks at number one on the Hot Country Songs chart and becoming the best-selling digital country artists, with billions of streams and millions of album sales.
The duo also expanded into business, launching ventures like Old Camp Whiskey, a Nashville bar called FGL House, a record label (Round Here Records), and a music publishing company (Tree Vibez Music). After a decade of success, they performed their final show together in 2022 and officially ended the duo in 2024. This was not due to conflict, but rather Brian Kelley’s choice to pursue music on his own.
